This Song Touched Me...

So I'm going to share it... it reminds me of how I use to be and what my parents went through trying to deal with all the mess.

I'm headed out of town to see my new man... and I'm taking my knitting since he has to work tomorrow night, so I'll have time to work on my bag... yeah!!! Anytime is a good time to knit!

Dedicating this song to Jay because when I think about him singing it (ALL THE TIME) to me and making me dance:

First Felting Venture

Today I'm in a mood... not sad... not hyper... not happy, just kind of detached from the world. So this isn't going to be my usual funny blog. As I sit in on of the many beautiful parks in Savannah I watch all the different people pass. Its lunch so I can see the tre mixture. Worker, bums, lawyers, art students... even the man who walks the parks everday shouting that we are all going to burn in hell - he is a staple here. When people come down they laugh and stare but I just don't even notice him anymore. I wonder if anyone has actually changed their life because of rantings of condeming people. Everyone knows that in Savannah the ones with money are eccentric and the poor are crazy. We have our share of both, but I think we lean more on the eccentric side.
So as I'm typing this I want to show you what I am so privlaged to be surrounded by:

So know about my new knitting project...

I have decided to venture off and try my hand at felting.... oh I'm so excited! This is what I've decided to, do, its the bag on the left with the pom pom...

Most of my clothes are black so a nice safe color was gray.... so here I go... I've finished the back piece..

Here is what I started this morning before heading off to the park to play on the internet:

So any tips or warning before I proceed to start felting I would SOOOOO appreciate it. By the way I am still working on that same shirt but I think I will save that to be my knittin group project.

Well off to start a new day and try and get at least half way done with the front of the bag. I'm also wondering if I should make the flap or the pom pom a different color... if so what?

Flower for a Bug

Here is a little theme music for you... Click here for Tiny Tim Tiptoe Thru The Tulips
I saw him actually play this song on I Love Lucy when I was a kid... I thought it was a joke... but nope! It cracks me up even til this day. So enjoy Tiny Tim for as long as you can handle it.

So I've been seeing this guy for about a month... which for me is a great record.
Since I love finding reasons to get myself in gear to knit and not just something for me... I lose my excitment for the finished product... I guess because I know what it is SUPPOSE to look like and so there is no WOW-factor.
So the guy got a bug... he isn't the bug per say... maybe sometimes... lol and he knows he is. So he went out and bought him this VW Bug - Black... I decided that he couldn't have some stupid looking plastic flower for the car since I do knit and this will something I'll actually finish. You know since flowers can't be THAT hard... pretty easy.
He was so up on the idea... how special right?
Well knitting the little petals... easy... so easy... hell I thought I'm just going to make tons of these little suckers. Then after all was said and done I had all this little petals that had to be joined.
The knitters thorn in the ass... finishing... all the tacking and sewing the petals and attaching the I-cord... I thought I would just toss it and go buy him one and pass it off as my own!!! OK, kidding, I could never do that.
So while my sweet little Trixie sat comfy next to me:

I struggled to complete this one little flower before in showed up the next afternoon... now it doesn't seem like much, that was what I was telling my stupid self anyways. But, I had to clean and all that good homemaker stuff...
So here is my finished product. I thought it was a little more manly than the normal pink walmart flower:

Whatcha think? Any ideas for the next one? I actually wanted to felt him a cool realistic flower but I would have to order the pattern.... if anyone has one or has found a great one let me know. If not I'm just going to order that awesome one on Pick Up Sticks
