Cool Knitter Blogs

People I know and the stuff the write

April 30, 2008

Its been 62 days since my last post....

Now do I get a spanking?  Knittygirlie where are you when I need one?

I'm going to try to write this while eating the most gawd-damn hot pizza!  Who the hell puts jalapenos peppers on a pizza?  OK, I'm sure a bunch, but damn- it they are freakin HOT!

You know it is really amazing all the changes in a person's life that can happen in only two months.

First we will hit the Ravelry group front!  Man that group has got to be one of the best group of girls and boys ever!  It is amazing how we can go from swapping pasties, modeling them, to helping one of our beloved members out in a crisis.  The group has been busy knitting & crocheting squares for a comfort afghan her.  Lori, you are in all our hearts and minds during her time of pain and sadness. We love you sweet Indulgence.

Let me go ahead and wipe the tears away and try to go on....

FYI: There is now a Knit Girl Blog for any updates and going on in that other world of mine

What a life of a Knit Girl

So because I had way to much drama in my life and so I got rid of all the crappy people... ones that put me down for the stuff I choose to do and for who I am.  I will not change because it might offend someone or someone might see my pastie covered boobies.  So no more letting others control any part of my life whither it is ex-boyfriends, friends or whoever....  Amazingly once I decided all this within a week I met the most wonderful guy, I swear, in the world.  Not to mention he is a fireman, how totally hot is that??? Gets me going that is for SURE!

Myspacegraphicsbumperstickers09_3

I'm really not sure what I have done to deserve to have someone care so much about me.  I guess waiting these few years for the "right" guy has really paid off.  But, I'm not going to get to deep into it with you guys just because there are some people I just would rather not know about my comings and goings but lets just say he spoils me with kindness and thinks the world of me... not sure if I have ever had that in life before... he has put me on cloud nine!  Life is a crazy thing once you have completely given up it throws you something you just weren't expecting.

On Friday my new guy told me that we are going on a trip this weekend.... get this, we are going to Denver to see my favorite singer Devil Doll.  He has booked everything and has it all planned for ME!  Also, Molly that is running for May Knit Girl lives in Denver so I asked the BF if we could stop in the yarn store she works at... he said we could go anywhere I wanted to go!  How amazing is he to let me go to a yarn store... poor guy, doesn't know what he is in for!

Then the next weekend I head up to spend a weekend with my best friend in her boat while the boys fish... ok, way to many vacations I will never get anything done at home.

Other than that my parents came down for a weekend and we actually had a freakin great time!  I can't even believe I'm even typing that... but they are doing so great and somehow they have turned into these crazy funny people!  My dad even wore a shirt that said "Scars are just like Tattoos but with better stories".   Mom said he was dying to wear it!!!  What goofballs.

Work... well same ol same ol but it looks like I won't be moving back to ATL anytime soon so I guess I need to just start to enjoy what I do!  My plan is to go back to school in September and get my Aeronatical Technical Management degree.   Then I guess I will be "officially" smart!!!!

Crap on to my not-so-much-knitting life... I've been such a bad knitter girl!  Except for the squares on the comfort afghan and pasties I've really not done to much.  I had a million stitches drop from my intolerable cruelty skirt when the cable on the circulars came unscrewed.  I think that frustrated me so much that I just can't look at it for a little while, but since they yarn cost me a boat load so I really need to get it going again... seems like a good project for the plane ride.

No time to post picture this time but I'll get some in Denver... woo hoo...

12 things – A Bitch's list of Today

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

1) Writing and Cussing: Ugh, why is writing the first sentence always so hard? Ok, well I guess I wrote it now and the words should be flowing now! Maybe I have Blogger’s Block…. or could it be ADHD? Should I go get tested? Umm, where was I going with al this? Oh yeah… I think I have all this important stuff jumbled up in my little head and they are so not playing nice with each other! Damn them!

2) Smart as a Brick? First things first, working at a large aircraft company seems to be a pretty cool sounding job right? With an abundance of brilliant people right? Now don’t get me wrong, there are some really intelligent people here but most have very little common sense or tact. A guy can build an airplane but can’t make a copy, which scares me just a little bit. It just is not nice to treat people like they are beneath them. I don’t care if you are VP or the guy you empties the trash we all have to work together! UGH, ok now that is out… on to the next…

3) As the Gulfstream Turns: The other day our IT dept or what we call “the internet Nazis” put a new block on our daily visits to the local County Sheriff dept website. It seems that we (as a company in whole) have nothing to do but check the website daily to see who we know that had been arrested the prior night and spread it as fast as we can. I am guilty of this little bit of pleasure, which is a little embarrassing on my part! All I know is to never get arrested in this town, actually never do anything that could be used against you in this town cause word spreads faster than peanut butter on toast! Anyhoo(I really hate when I use that word) there is the ADHD at work, So I guess when the last girl at our work was put in the slammer for Terrorist Treats and acts, “the man” decided that something needed to be done to the gossip train. I mean talking about taking all the joy out of our day! What the heck will we do now? Work?

4) We giveth but you have to giveth 5 dollars: So now it seems I have an interview tomorrow. Am I getting a new job? Well no, not exactly. I have to actually interview for my promotion! What kind of bullcrap is that?

5) There is Terror in S-Town: Speaking of stupid people and terroristic threats… this is nice, they had a big crackdown at our local family entertainment place… here is the best part:

From the Savannah News:

15-year-old was charged with terroristic threats after he confronted a police officer.

"The officer was trying to prevent him from attacking a child and he said, '... don't touch me. I'll kill you. I don't care if you're the police, I'll bust a cap in your a-,'

At least it seems he had great grammar.

6) Its all about the Ska: I’ve got some exciting news! Oh yes, Aug 6th Dropkick Murphys is coming to Savannah! Finally some good music in this town.

7) What a lovely Asshole:

8) The 5th reason girls are dumb: Wearing 5” heels on a day that is so hot even this southern girl is complaining is a really bad idea especially when I have to walk about half mile to my car! Today is a total flats day. What do I care if my ass is perky?

9) Cats, Men and PBR: I believe that I will end up marring my cat! Hey, they could have some kind of special pill in the future you never know. I mean who knows what is going on with Ashley and me, he won’t grow up long enough to talk about me which I know is a shock! I mean there are guys out there but I think instead of telling them I’m not into them I try to make them not want to date me, it has become a little bit of a game for me. Its actually pretty hard ! I mean I tell them I’m tattooed, been in rehab, like punk music, love going to the local hole in the wall bar in my jeans/t-shirt and drinking PBR in a can. Oh yeah I left out I can burp the alphabet… ok I’m kidding on that one, well I can but I don’t do it anymore! I just don’t seem into the guys down here, for too country-fried for me. I mean they are good to go out for some fun but to date? No way!

10) Knitting? Who me? So, I’ve picked up the needles again! This time I’m telling myself that I have to actually finish something (this is where the ADHD comes back into play from #1) and I’ll be back into the grove… well I have a million excuses, along with the 9 above to give ya but the truth is I’m a little on the pissy side lately and if I mess up I’m going to end of stabbing my eyes out. Oh an extra one….

Death_or_glory

Ok, I know this is doctored but Sid was just cool!

11) Digging for Gold: Oh well guess what my baby is doing in my bag? He is hunting for hair bands! This little bandit steals all of them and when I go to put my hair up I end up searching the whole house for just one. What a cute little brat.

12) The Vatican issued a set of “Ten Commandments” for drivers: Yes the Catholic Church has now given us "rules" of driving. Now, I can think of much more effective commandments than what the Church can come up with! Check it out! The Driving Ten Commandments!!!!

Here is a couple of cute little baby pics...

This is what its all about... well until the brawl starts!

Slowly Put Down the Needles and Step Away from the Plane!

Egg

Hefner:i took her love for granted.mp3

So I survived my trip this past weekend.  Thanks partly to some handy dandy Xanax!  Actually it wasn't so bad after all.  On the way home I even crashed (me... not the plane obviously).  I d0 have a great tip for flying knitters.  I didn't have any problems bringing my knitting supplies on the plane; I was pretty shocked about how easy it was.  However, I did learn that if you are sitting in coach make sure you carry SHORT ass needles or circular ones would even be better!  I tried to work on my scarf but there was no way in hell I could have without poking someone in the crotch.  Now that would actually be kind of funny to me, but I guess not to the person I assaulted with the knitting needle.  Then I'd be probably be arrested, charged and no one would be able to carry needles... what a legend to leave behind.

The trip couldn't have been better!  Ash and I had such a great time, I don't think I stopped smiling or laughing the whole time!  We didn't do too much just spent time together but one thing I almost pee'd in my pants a couple of times from his silly antics (I'm pretty impressed with my vocabulary skills on that one)

Sprites_i_go_crazy.mp3

So we did talk about marriage a lot... we are going to go ahead and start planning but nothing will be official until I can get my head around the whole thing.  Darn those commitment issues I have now... darn ex-boys!  I did hear a great thing about ex's... without X's you can't have O's, pretty cleaver huh?

Back to the happy subject... Ash is coming down in April to see where he will be moving too... wow he is going to hate the Savannah heat.  I'm really glad he loves cats because he now has two step-kitties!

Good things never come without some bad things too!  I just got my pap smear results back and I have stupid cervical dysplasia again.  More reason for me to remind you to go get your yearly check up!  It really sucks but it is just something that we have to do!  I'm dreading when I get older and have to get the boobies smashed, but damn it I'll do it!

My new knitting project is going to be a cool beanie for Ash.  The Main color will of course be black and it will be sporting a sexy white iron cross on the front.  One Issue I do have is that he has an extremely big head.  I started working on setting up the pattern back in November but with the Xmas knitting it fell to the wayside.  Since my scarf wasn't finished when I made it up to Minnesota and it wasn't even cold enough for it.... I have quite a while until it is cold enough for me to actually wear the stupid thing.

I need beanie/skully ideas!  I keep asking him for his head size (ok, I can't keep typing this without tell you it is soooo cracking me up) but most men aren't going to run to the store to get a measuring tape for their head!

This is kind of what I'm looking to do:

Hat1 Hat2

Oh man you have to check this out!  I found something pretty freakin cool,           Moo cards!  I'm sure I am way behind the times but they would be an awesome idea for random knitting pictures.... even as a blog address card!  Not sure if I'll ever get some but what a totally rad idea~

March 06, 2007

I do??? Yep it’s not knitting, damn me!!!

So I’m really been trying to work on my Cable scarf, but my mind is wondering other places and it is soooo making me mess up every time I start.  I’ve just been so freakin happy it doesn’t even bother me.  However I bet when I get up to Minneapolis I’ll be so mad when I’m freezing my bum off!

Well here is my news… my high school sweetheart has asked me to marry him… wow that seems like the strangest thing to say, I guess it will official when I get up there on the 22nd.  He has rented us a cabin for the weekend, but I feel like we won't be there that much because he is going to be dragging me around meeting everyone.  Oh yeah and the fact I’m going to spend HOURS in the Mall of America.

Yesterday I told my ex about me getting married… well that was one of the hardest things in the world to do and I even broke out into hives. Yes, I realize it is over between us, but he still means so much to me but we just weren’t meant to be together. I never understand how people can just stop caring about someone just because a relationship didn’t work out… who knows why people do anything they do. I just wish he could be happy for me, but that will never ever happen, and that is very sad to say.

Anyhoo, since I’m getting hitched I’ve decided to do a blog about knitting and wedding stuff… a sexy kind of blog (Maybe my next blog will be maternity clothes… jk). Man my cheeks hurt from smiling so much!!!!  OK enough about my sweetie and on to the knitting huh?  I’ve just never had anyone treat me like a princess before, well except my daddy of course.

Searching the Web for Wedding knitting really didn’t impress me.  I was expecting some really cool things or ideas.  Nope not much out there.  I did find a book that I’m going to go out and get, Wedding Knits .  Now the reviews I’ve read are mixed, the problems most say that the knits are too simple looking.  But I’m all about simple so if you have an opinion let me know.

We are planning a very Irish wedding in Helen, GA… if you never been check this out! http://www.helenga.org/  It is a beautiful place and for Ash it is his favorite place of all!

If I was really really great at knitting and had tons and tons of time on my hands then I’d so love to make this gown… wow!!!!

Dress

Download Wedding_Gown.pdf

Now this is more up my alley…. I know you have the blue ribbon for the whole tradition reason but since it will be Irish then mine will just have to be green… something else will just have to be blue… maybe his balls… oh I’m soooo kidding on that one… lol, but it was funny!

So here are so cool things I found on Knitty.com!!!  Not sure what would be the best to start on….

So to end my sweet little sick blog… Here is our song from when we dated way back in 1989… yeah I know… weird!

It’s a plane! (Can someone help me with traveling with needles?)

Plane

Yes!!! I finally booked my flight to Minneapolis for the 22nd of March and it is a non-refundable ticket so I can’t back out, which what I normally would do!  I am so terrified of flying which does makes for a great reason to call the doctor and get some Xanax so I don’t have a panic attack and accidentally jump out of the plane (or someone might just decide to push me out when I start screaming that we are all going to die).

The weirdest part is that I work at a place that makes jets… so how can I be afraid to fly? This is very easy to answer… first I don’t like heights, second I don’t get to fly in our planes, third I’ve only flown once up to Chicago and lastly this time I have to travel all alone – no one to help me or hold me hand!

So being from Savannah I don’t have many winter clothes or they actually aren’t made for anything below… ummm 45º F…. and I haven’t knitted me anything this year so I think I’m either going to be going broke buying clothes or I’m going to freeze solid walking out of the airport and my baby will have to take me somewhere to get me thawed out (ok, well that could be a lot of fun).

I guess I’m going to take the 3 hours to do some knitting.  Now since I have only flown once and that was like 7 years ago I’m not sure the best way to bring my knitting on the plane and what I can or can’t bring.  Can someone help me?

I wonder what my project will look like after a few pills, panic and maybe a drink – this one will be fit for framing or just FROGing it!!!   Maybe I can make a hat with ear flaps… that is something I was so need!

Can ya tell I’m excited about going… wow!!!!

So here are the boots I was thinking of getting but I’m not sure what girls wear up in the North since winter boots are just not needed here for any season.

Snow_boots_1

Tell me what you think about them....

But when I sent this to my friends for their opinion this is what one of them drew for me:(its me in the boots – that is without a head or hands… boy that is creepy).

Headless_me

So I’ve decided to start a hat for me to wear… maybe something like this one?

Swell

It can be found at Knitty.com

Or this might be easy and fast… even warmer (oh what a great word… WARM).

Knit_hat

This one is actually at Martha Stewart Living, if you can believe that.

I even love the scarf.  What kind of yard do you think they used for that?

If I get really excited I might start tonight and even get to make a scarf… this one would be awesome!  I just have to quit talking to that boy of mine all night long!

60429a

This is actually a Lionbrand Pattern!!

I can not wait to get up to the freezing cold… JK… but going to see my guy AND going to the Mall of America is so worth it!!!!  I just hope I remember to bring everything I need to keep me warm!

Maybe the local headline won't read:

Poor Stupid Little Georgia Girl Freezes to Death on the Streets of Minneapolis!!!!

Happy Happy Joy Joy

OK… so if I thought I couldn’t have a perm-a-grin without some kind of drug I was wrong.  After years of looking I found a lost ex-boyfriend of mine from when I was 17.  We stayed really close friends until I was about 25 when I got married and moved away. Now he lives all the way in Minnesota so that sucks but I’m planning a trip up there to see him (oh boy am I’m going to be a kid in a candy shop).  Now one thing that is going to suck really bad is that as we all know it really COLD up there and being a little southern girl used to being warm, actually love being warm, it isn’t going to be a wonderful thing for me.  Boy 2007 has been so great so far, it’s only 2 months in too!  Well he told me of a song that makes him think of me and smile…  I swear I love that guy to death!

Here is the song....

regina_spektor_fidelity.mp3

My nights have been spent talking to him for hours on end instead of knitting.  I think he is melting the ice around my heart and has actually made me cry with happiness.  So this blog is not about knitting but about other happy things.

Man there has been so much going on!  My cats received their new cat tree on Monday.  You would think that after the sweat and all the cussing that I did they would be all over the thing… but nope they aren’t!   Aren’t ALL cats in love with those stupid trees?  Are my cats on strike against me?

Well here is the tree from start to finish…. What a pain!  If I knew that I’d actually have to put the thing together AFTER lugging the 60lb box up my stairs I doubt they would have the tree to ignore.  I got a great deal at www.stepsforpets.com. They have free shipping AND they donate money to a shelter of your choice!!

The Beginning....

OK... now you see Trixie was all about this thing BEFORE I put it together...

Oh yeah here is another cool thing.  Sunday is my birthday, hell I’ll be 34 and I am not happy about it.  But today at work a girl gave me the cutest thing ever its a figurine made by Jim Shore,I just love it!!!
